Rivera was an outstanding soldier, dedicated husband and father, and an all around good guy. I was privileged to serve with him in Afghanistan from mid 2006 through mid 2007. He chose to return to Afghanistan with the 1/102nd infantry when they were recently deployed there again. He has died of injuries received on the 20th of May, 2010. Rivera was always quietly optimistic, and ready to do anything asked of him as a soldier. I will miss him.
